Experience SCUBA

This is a three-week course for you to try "underwater diving" in a safe pool environment, so that you can decide whether diving is for you.

To enable a diver to remain underwater, we use a SCUBA unit - a self contained underwater breathing apparatus -  consisting of a high pressure air cylinder, a regulator (demand valve) and a buoyancy compensator, (often called a stab jacket or a BC).

The SCUBA unit is designed to provide the diver with breathable air under the water. Not everyone takes to the using SCUBA gear so we recommend our "Experience  SCUBA" before buying any diving equipment.

Once you've tried our "Experience  SCUBA" you're  likely to want to go straight on to the BSAC Diver training Program with the knowledge that you have "tried it and liked it".

Experience SCUBA - Fees

Enrolling  couldn't be easier, just come along to Mercer Hall pool on a Wednesday night at 9.00 pm and fill in the Experience  SCUBA application form. The minimum age is 11 years. Anyone under 18 we need parental  consent  . The cost is £25.00 for the three week course. You don't need to become a member of the club to carry out "Experience  SCUBA".
